About Us

A design firm located in Honolulu? Some may think we’re far removed from the pulse of graphic design. We don’t see it that way - we’re perfectly located between Asia and America. And clients, local, national and international, think so too. We get the best of both worlds and our team reflects our global thinking. As well as our passion for all things
graphic design.

President

  • What inspires you?
  • Great architecture, good food and silver and bronze age comic books.
  • What is your favorite movie of all time? Why?
  • Animal House. This movie shows that even losers like John "Bluto" Blutarsky (John Belushi) can be successful in the game of life.
  • What is your favorite ethnic dish?
  • Wait, I have three: The Pork Adobo Fried Rice Omelette from Elena's, The Japanese Hamburger Steak from Ethels and The Garlic Roast Crab from Crustacean's in San Francisco.
  • Name one thing you can't live without.
  • My Family.

Tamara Tom Gillia

  • Everyone would own a puppy!

Lana Tau

Account Services

  • Where is the most beautiful place that you have ever visited?
  • The most beautiful place I have ever been isn’t really a specific place. It is in fact a space. Flying on an airplane and coasting over a sheet of clouds during sunset or sunrise is the most beautiful "place" in the world.
  • Brad Pitt or George Clooney?
  • Brad Pitt. I don't get the whole George Clooney thing.
  • If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
  • I would change the rules to Scrabble. Why can’t I make a word going up the board?!
  • Name one thing on your bucket list.
  • I want to be invited to a Red Carpet Event.

For us, it all begins with our ears – paying close attention to our client’s needs and the problems they encounter. Only then do we use what’s between our ears. We also believe that nothing succeeds in a vacuum. Which is why we make collaboration a key element in each project we undertake. If you’ve got any questions, we’d be more than happy to sit and start using our ears.

Committed

On this day fifteen years ago, we started working with our first client. While so much has changed over the years, we continue to serve that very first client, Serola Biomechanics. And that’s just a testament of how committed we are at the Asylum. It has truly been an insane 15 years and we’re looking forward to celebrating many years to come.
